Lounge

The main objective with this space was to lighten up the room and create an inviting lounge area that can be used to relax with company after dinner or to watch tv. In order to do this we recommend a comfortable l-shaped sofa and 1 or 2 armchairs.

As you can see we presented you two options (see next slide). Both sofas are made out of natural fibres, so should give no problem in regards to your allergies. And although the linen one on the next slide fits the coastal style better, the leather sofa is probably a bit more puppy friendly.

We would put the l-shaped sofa where you now have your 3seater with the armchair(s) facing the wall that has the artwork with the fishes. Besides that we've added a tv unit that would better match the timber items you already have in there. Overall you want to keep the selection of used materials cohesive throughout the entire design.

The handwoven coffee table will add texture to the room. You could also use one of your smaller African tables as an extra side table. Add greenery and decorative items to the tables to finish the overall look. You will see that we've included a couple of slides with tips on how to style your coffee table, console, ... Remember that the items in the moodboards are only suggestions and that you are free to shop at your own favourite stores, if preferred. The only thing we would advise is to stick to colours that compliment the furniture and artwork.

We would advise to swap the artwork in this room for one of your pieces with softer colours. We've opted for a neutral rug in the space to help shape the furniture in the room. By doing this it reduces the likeliness of furniture to be 'floating' in the space.

Dining Room

In this room we have added some beautiful dining chairs with a simple design to replace the chairs that now scratch the floor. They nicely match the existing table and also work cohesively with the colours and materials used in the others room.

We opted for a wool & jute rectangular rug to place under the dining table. This not only brightens up the room, but also defines the space. We would suggest to use a nice vase with stems of greenery as a centrepiece to add height and bring in some life. By adding a table runner or napkins you can add texture and a nice set table will instantly create a very inviting feeling. Choosing the right decoration will accentuate your table and make it stand out.

Living Room

We felt a coastal design style was the best way to create the mood our client was looking for. So this is the style you see reflected in our previous moodboards. The furniture pieces you have at the moment are, as we discussed on the phone, not ideal to accomplish this style. This new moodboard is based on keeping the black leather sofa. We tried to incorporate the same colour palette and materials, but you will see that because of the darker tones this board gives a complete different vibe. Using a modern design style is not going to give you that same spacious and calm feeling you would achieve if you would implement the coastal style. But it aligns more with your existing pieces of furniture.

We still would advise on looking into slipcovers. They exist for recliners as well (lightinthebox, ebay, matt blatt, ...). This could be a (temporary) solution if you're not ready to invest in a new sofa just yet

Master Bedroom

We've added lighter colours and textures to the master bedroom. Painting the trims around the windows white will shift the focal point from them to your new bedframe with headboard. By using neutral linen for the bed, you can keep the space bright and open.

Slecting a quilt that's a size bigger than your bedframe you add volume. We suggest adding different textures, shapes and colours by using throw pillows and a throw for layering the bed and creating more depth. We've included a slide on how to style your bed at the end of this presentation. We exchanged the bedsides for ones in a lighter timber that also have more storage option. The bedside lamps add more texture and interest. Bringing mood lighting into your rooms always benefit the overall aesthetics. Same goes for plants.

We've added an occasional chair, that you could use to replace the white wicker one you have in the room now. The selected rug ties all the used colours and textures together. Keep in mind that the suggested selections would also work when changing your flooring.
